Laminate Flooring

Why choose Laminate…

There many advantages to laminate floors. Laminate floors can give you realistic looking ceramic or stone tile appearances without the hassle of having to clean soiled grout joints and is far less costly to install. Also, if you are concerned with upkeep of a wood floor, then a laminate floor may be your answer. It is a remarkably durable surface, stain resistant, and does not need to be varnished or waxed so it’s very easy to maintain.

These are perfect floors for busy households, especially homes with kids and pets. They’re also a good choice if you want a floor that’s durable; easy both on the budget and to take care of.

Today’s laminate floors are available in a multitude of designs, patterns, and textures, yet they all consist of four main components that are bonded together.

  • The bottom layer or backing is a melamine plastic layer that lends dimensional stability to the planks and also helps guard against moisture from the sub-floor
  • The next layer is a core board, generally made from high-density fiber board or particle board which may also contain melamine plastic resins that help improve the moisture resistance of the core.
  • Then a decorative layer or print film is adhered on top of the core board giving the floor its hardwood or tile look.  This decorative layer is a printed high-resolution photo-reproduction of wood grain, natural stone or laminate tile pattern.
  • The final layer is a durable, wear layer which contains aluminum oxide, as well as a melamine resin which creates exceptional durability, providing protection and stain resistance.

All the layers are then combined in a high-pressure process to finish your final product.  It is with this layered construction, laminate flooring is able to absorb the heavy traffic from day to day use of an active family, while maintaining a look as good as the day it was installed.
